Listening Lunch Series: Listening Filters Part 2-Socio Cultural Filters
Each one of our lives is shaped by social and cultural identities and our unique experiences in the world. These experiences shape what we see, how we communicate, and unconsciously limit our ability to understand one another. We make assumptions and form unconscious biases about other people based on our own experience of the world. This leads to misunderstandings and unhealthy us/them dynamics. This online session will review a variety of socio-cultural barriers that interfere with our ability to listen, introduce tools for identifying your own biases, and share practices for cultivating curiosity about the experiences of others.
What We’ll Cover:
- Socio-Cultural Identity Factors
- Tools for Identifying and addressing our own unconscious biases
- Micro-practices for cultivating radical humility and curiosity
