Full Day Workshops & Retreats
JL Basics
Introduces foundational skills necessary to improve listening and communication generally with an emphasis on self-reflection, understanding personal barriers that impede our understanding of others, and how to respond rather than react in personal and professional interactions.
From Conflict & Division to Dialogue
For those interested in bridging divides and connecting across differences. Learn about what causes conflict and polarization and tools for turning down the temperature in heated conversations
Listening to Support Others
Build relationships grounded in mutuality, rather than hierarchy, and support others with challenges, making decisions, or navigating change without imposing our own opinions. We will also build personal self-care plans to sustain us for the long haul.
Building Connection on the Social Margins
Ideal for those working with people on the social margins. Heighten awareness of power-dynamics and assumptions that can impede truly listening with those living on the social margins. We will cover the basics of trauma aware engagement and learn tools for supporting others in surfacing their own wisdom to navigate challenges and make decisions.
Listening for Social Service Providers, Healthcare Workers, and Educators: Other-centered listening in the context of service
For those working in caretaking and service roles. Identify our own personal barriers to listening, learn tools for staying present, practice techniques to help ensure that our egos do not become hooked in our interactions, and develop personal self-sustainability plans for sustaining ourselves in roles with a high level of emotional labor.
Listening and Leadership
This workshop builds skills for managing and supervising others with a focus on ensuring that employees feel heard and valued in the workplace. Learn skills for managing conflict and supporting others in navigating challenges, tools for structuring meetings, and practices for embedding gratitude, positivity, and growth mindset into organizational culture.
From Burnout to Balance: Sustaining Ourselves for the Long Haul
This workshop offers space for individual and group reflection and light skills building. We introduce tools for identifying the symptoms of burnout and compassion fatigue in your organization and resources for creating balance and cultivating a culture of wellbeing. Participants then create individual and organizational sustainability plans.
Energizing Change
This retreat-like atmosphere offers a space of reflection and reconnection for groups/teams feeling disconnected or experiencing high amounts of stress. Bring the team together to reconnect with one another, strengthen bonds, build team cohesion, and boost morale.

About Our Rates
JUST Listening offers our services on a wide sliding scale. Our sliding scale is an intentional effort to distribute resources equitably between organizations, regardless of annual budget and income level. We aim to support and strengthen groups doing social benefit and strategic movement-building work. Paying at the higher end of the scale the Redistribution rate makes it possible for JUST Listening to work with smaller organizations at little to no cost to them and supports volunteer programming for individuals experiencing deep poverty and/or incarceration.
*We are grateful to AORTA anti-oppression resource and training alliance for allowing us to borrow their sliding scale model.
