THE JUST LISTENING PRISON PROJECT IS…
In a maximum-security prison in January of 2017, a group of 50 men underwent a full-day training with JUST Listening. Thirty-seven of the incarcerated men elected to participate in an ongoing mentoring and peer supervision period of training to become Certified Listeners for others at the prison.

The prison project is one of five JUST Listening volunteer projects and is designed to address the specific needs and realities of Listening in prison. The curriculum and ongoing training process has been customized collaboratively between outside volunteers and a focus group of men incarcerated there, as well as with monthly feedback from everyone engaged in the process.

fundraiserThe group works to support an environment inside where individuals are listened to deeply and consequently are more reflective, self-aware, and empowered.

Twenty-four incarcerated listeners are now enrolled in a Train the Trainers program. They seek effective communication for creative problem solving and more healthy environments inside the walls, anticipate training the next cohort in 2019, and have initiated the development of this project as a model to be replicated and offered at other prisons.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL…
Provide necessary funds to develop the JUST Listening Prison Project, the Train the Trainer project, replication of its model, and other volunteer projects as JUST Listening seeks sustainable funding as an organization. It will provide needed training materials for volunteers and inside participants, curriculum development for trainers including those in the prison, and meetings and focus groups to inform its work.

ANY AMOUNT YOU ARE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE HELPS.

PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS.

THANK YOU!!!
