Restoring Balance Workshops and Retreats
For Public Interest Lawyers….
The work of providing legal services to people on the social margins can be frustrating and exhausting. Burnout and compassion fatigue are real risks even for the most dedicated and seasoned individuals. These workshops are designed to help participants identify the causes of burnout, explore their own stresses, and acquire skills and perspectives to stay balanced, energized, and creative.
Workshops explore methods for creating and sustaining passion for your mission, so that together you can continue to do the vital work you do with commitment and enthusiasm.
For The Private Bar…
The lives of lawyers are filled with multiple stresses and competing demands. Increasingly, attorneys are experiencing the tensions between being productive members of the firm, personal and professional growth, and ethical lawyering. Proactively addressing Work/Life balance issues is a benefit both to stressed lawyers, and to firms concerned about attrition and retention issues. These workshops and retreats are designed to help participants identify the causes of burnout, explore their own stresses, and acquire skills and perspectives to stay balanced, energized, and creative.
Workshops are customized, and can range from a program of several hours duration to an entire weekend retreat. In an interactive and energizing format, participants have an opportunity to rejuvenate, communicate informally with colleagues about issues of mutual importance, and acquire information and skills needed to sustain balanced, productive, and dedicated lives. Workshops can also be designed to incorporate other JUST Listening program offerings, such as:
- Listening as a Tool of Personal and Social Change: Other-centered listening in service contexts and environments
- Listening for Pro Bono Attorneys: Socio-Cultural Competence for Advocacy Excellence.
- Listening in Difficult Conversations: Techniques for peaceful dialogue
- Animating Change: Practices for Managers and Supervisors. How to enliven and empower your staff.
